PROPOSITIONS / STATE MEASURES
Prop: 1 - VOTE YES
(11.25 Billion for Housing)
This measure is well intended yet lacks insight and forethought. This proposition is designed to help California Residents gain access to owning a home through privatized loans that will be siphoned through a state bond. Ta Da! Your 20% housing down payment awaits. But hold up, there are glitches. Private lenders will be hard to secure because there are no safe guards for investors. And only newly built homes are in play. Yeah...like I said, it's BADLY written. That said, Vote Yes, because it costs tax payers nothing and it is a step in the right direction. This will need to be amended deeply if it passes but its a first step.
Prop: 2 - VOTE NO
(Raise limits on rainy day funds)
Nope! Learn to balance the dang budget.
Prop: 3 - VOTE YES
(Make standing income tax law on higher earners permanent)
Yep. It has been in play FOR YEARS.
Prop: 4 - VOTE YES
(Allow public financing of political campaigns)
Heck YEAH! Currently Super Pacs and Special Interest have a louder voice than actual voters. Why should they have a greater influence than WE THE PEOPLE? Get in the game, vote yes.
Prop: 5 - VOTE YES
(Replace recalled officials during state elections)
Prop: 37 - VOTE YES
(Create low cost mortgages for home buyers)
Prop: 38 - VOTE NO
(8.4 billion for immunology research)
This prop has no oversight. Gas is sky high, healthcare has doubled, and now they want to use billions of tax payer dollars with ZERO OVERSIGHT. No Sir! No Mam!
Prop: 39 - VOTE NO
(Require Identification for voting)
We do NOT have a voting fraud issue in American Politics. We have a not enough people are informed and not enough people vote issue in American politics. This was put on the ballot by people who try to rob folks that they can not control of their civil liberties.
Prop: 40 - VOTE YES
(Tax Billionaires)
This will not pass. Even top Democratic candidates don’t want it. I am voting yes as a statement of disgust. California has 250 billionaire residents. But less than 20% of California residents can afford to own a home. We toss around the word billionaire like its a reasonable thing to say. IT IS NOT. For perspective: If you earned $1,350. every single day since the year 1 AD—covering over two millennia of human history—you still would not be a billionaire today. LET THAT REALLY SINK IN. If Billionaire Mark Zuckerberg is taxed 5% , his remaining wealth would be around $190 billion, which is STILL MORE than the entire economies of dozens of countries. AGAIN...for perspective: For YOU to accumulate just ONE of his remaining 190 billion you would have to earn $36,504.68 EVERY SINGLE DAY for the next 75 yrs. THAT IS HOW MUCH MONEY ONE BILLION IS. So don’t get all sentimental when someone suggests taxing Billionaire's. THEY GOOD. THEY REAL REAL GOOD.
Props: 41-42-43 - VOTE NO
These propositions were put on the ballot by Billionaire's to thwart Prop 40.
Like I said, Prop 40 is not going to pass. But if enough of us send the message that we want a country that benefits ALL of its hard working citizenry, some important things may begin to change.
Prop: 44 - VOTE NO
(Regulate clinic spending)
This is a good idea but it misses the mark. The attorney General can not be the one to decide how non profit health organizations provide healthcare. We need a committee composed of folks in healthcare to determine that. Plus there are already several federal and state laws on the books that do this.
Prop: 45 - VOTE NO
(Speed up Reviews for Housing and Infrastructure)
I WANTED TO LOVE THIS PROPOSITION! We need to expedite the bureaucratic machine in California. Stuff takes too long to move forward, and its bad for business. Unfortunately, this proposition 1- Dramatically lessens the time communities can respond to certain environmental affects, and in the day and age of data centers we can NOT have that.
2 - This proposition is written so that new information does NOT have to be applied to building projects. For instance, if you start building in January of 2027, and we discover a safety issue in March of 2027, the builder would not have to adapt to this new info, if it wasn't in place when they initially began construction. That can prove problematic.
