I can't tell you the exact moment I felt it but I knew, in my soul, as I looked around at all of the different faces from different backgrounds, coming together to raise our voice in unity....WE WERE MAKING HISTORY.
The greatest moment ever is when you realize you do not stand alone...in fact you are surrounded by a sea of others. The many, the beautiful, the not seen, the marginalized, the celebrated and the forgotten.
Different stories lifting one voice saying: WE WILL BE HEARD, WE WILL FIGHT, WE WILL STAND. We will not go quietly into the night, we will come together as a force of love and declare that the BEST of this nation lies in the hearts of the many, not in the wallets of the few. We stand united, one people under God, indivisible, who say with one voice:
WE ARE HERE AND WE WILL NOT BE DETERRED.
I saw signs celebrating every walk of life. I saw women and men of every race and creed and I felt so ALIVE and so very very proud to be a citizen of this great country where people can come together to stand with one voice and say, "It must be ALL of us or none of us". This can not be a country that serves the needs of the few, whether those needs be liberal or conservative. We must find common ground where everyone's voice is respected and acknowledged. We must come together and champion common sense compromise and move forward as a nation.
May freedom ring and may we never be silent when the darkness of injustice, racism, intolerance and misogyny abound. May we shine our light in a dark place and do ALL we can to protect our nation, this great shining city on a hill.
On June 21, 2017 people around the world came together to say we are stronger together than apart. I loved every minute of it!! I made a decision that the magnitude of what I was witnessing would not be lost one me. So at times I just stopped to take in the enormous Energy, Unity and LIGHT that surrounded me. IT WAS AWESOME. We were there in FULL FORCE and it was EVERYTHING. We shook up the world!
